Background
Mia started skating at 7 and continued skating competitively until 21. She was a competitive skater in freestyle for 11 years. She competed under the Glenwood Figure Skating Club until 2009. She switched over to the DuPage Figure Skating Club once she was primarily training in the Chicago area. She has competed at Regional competitions. Mia has extensive training in off-ice strength conditioning by Garrett Krug and volunteered under his supervision at the Champion Sports Advantage in 2011- 2012 to help skaters achieve proper technique during their strength and conditioning off-ice practices. She attended Western Michigan University where she represented GKSA and competed as a Senior competitor. She completed her Senior Moves in the Field and Senior Free Skate tests
Experience
Mia started coaching with GKSA in 2019. Since then, she has taken on leadership roles within the club. She is the chairperson for our Michigan Basic Skills Series competition, Skate the Zoo, and coaches the high school skating team. Mia offers off-ice jumps classes weekly throughout the year, which is made available to all club members. Additionally, she coaches young skaters and adults at the beginner level who are just starting to test under United States Figure Skating (USFS).Â
